Market access update
Why client delivery excellence is built on a foundation of team development
Written by Vicky O’Connor
“Our colleagues are the heart of our business,” says Vicky O’Connor, Executive Director, “and we want to give them every opportunity to thrive.”
In this update, Vicky explains why an organization-wide focus on wellbeing and career experience helps her colleagues own the challenge of delivering innovative policy, access, value, and evidence services to biopharma clients.
“Over the last 25 years, my experience has crossed pharmaceutical sales, medical communications, public relations, corporate affairs, and patient insights. This breadth of opportunity, in agency and in-house roles, has taught me the power and satisfaction that comes from developing and working with teams, but it has also taught me that no matter what discipline I work in, market access is still critical to get right.”
Better health happens when we connect
“I am delighted that my role at PRMA Consulting, a member of Fishawack Health, enables me to focus on two key areas:
- delivering client excellence though pioneering work now and in the future
- ensuring that our dedicated, expert colleagues have everything they need to learn, develop, and deliver high-quality work every day.
The two are intrinsically connected. We deliver excellent work for our clients, in part by focusing on our people, and I am pleased to be in a role where my passion for people and my passion for delivery to clients go hand in hand.
These connections and collaborations are key in our partnerships with our clients and enable us to provide market access solutions for faster patient access to therapies that improve health outcomes. Every client collaboration is as unique as the challenges our clients face; and they are rapidly changing in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic and will continue to do so, with many believing that the healthcare system will change more in the next few years.1”
We own the challenge: the role of personal development in delivering client excellence
“In order to continue to deliver in this evolving landscape, we are strengthening our teams with the right expertise to address our client’s challenges in the best way.
Our global team is made up of talented individuals with unique backgrounds including academia, commercial, health economics, medical and policy. There is a wonderful diversity of deep understanding and different approaches to policy, access, value, and evidence; we all have a lot to learn from each other.
But it takes time and effort to ensure there is an environment for continuous learning and development. In simple terms, we make sure that, together with the meetings and the deadlines, we practice and prioritize self-care and dedicate time to reflect on the ways we can improve what we do and strengthen the skills to get us there. Doing this at an individual level can be hard – so it is inspiring to see PRMA Consulting and Fishawack Health own the challenge and prioritize career experience and personal development throughout the organization.”
We are always looking for people who will deliver first-class work
“For me, PRMA Consulting is an organization that puts people first and always has. It has an open, transparent, and collegiate culture which provides the perfect foundations for growth, and I am proud to play a part in that – from introducing our graduate training program to streamlining our onboarding process so new colleagues can confidently hit the ground running, bring their whole selves to work, and add value from Day 1.
Recruiting, developing, and retaining engaged and motivated colleagues is essential for the success of our business. That is why PRMA Consulting is committed to a strong and successful learning and development strategy with clear progression paths.
